Same Passion, Only More
Same Passion, Only More
Since 2008, through a myriad of catering events of all occasions and sizes as well as our signature bento boxes at our own restaurant, Chef Naoko has been serving authentic Japanese food with keen focus on organic and seasonal ingredients that are mostly sourced locally here in the Portland area.
And now, we are extremely thrilled to introduce Shizuku by Chef Naoko. With this expansion, Naoko is pushing the envelope even further as she has gained so much more space than she ever had. She is also equipped with a wider range of ingredients, including Japanese fish and seafood that are just not available here in Oregon.
Bigger kitchen or not, Shizuku by Chef Naoko represents a whole new level in her long culinary career. And her wholehearted desire to feed you the best possible food got that much bigger as well... the kind of food your body will also thank you next day!
Sometimes things just happen... miraculously.
Kengo Kuma, world-renowned architect who is currently working on the main stadium for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, has also been on an assignment of the renovation project of Portland Japanese Garden. During one of his trips to Portland, Chef Naoko was introduced to him through a mutual acquaintance, which led him to visit her restaurant whenever he was in town. And along with the next door space serendipitously becoming available at the time, it eventually led to the ultimate expansion conversation with him.
And the rest is history; It did happen and it’s just beautiful.
From the gorgeous new home to the elevated culinary execution backed with a wider range of finest ingredients, we thrive to be a premier destination spot for authentic Japanese cuisine in Portland. At the same time, we refuse to stray away from what made us who we are; attention to details and doing the right thing, whether facing our customers or ingredients.
At Shizuku, our entire staff strives to satisfy all of your senses from the moment you step inside… absolutely hoping that you would only leave hungry for more visits!
By popular request, lunch came back, with a completely new menu and available Wednesday to Saturday!
If an ever-changing tasting menu is your calling, Chef Naoko’s Omakase just might be the one you've been looking for. From Oregon truffles to fresh fish flown in from Tsukiji Market, what we receive in the morning dictates the menu for that night, which varies from Kaiseki style course menu to various small dishes to be shared at the table. Omakase is $65 per person.
